Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a medical term. ICUs are the wards in the hospital which are specially for the of any seriously ill person who needs Intensive treatment.

The person who is very ill and which has problems in more than one organ is taken to the ICU to give special medical treatment and intensive care.

ICUs are also called Critical Care Units or Intensive Therapy Units.

Once a person not longer needs Intensive Care then they can be transferred to a different ward to continue their recovery before eventually going home.
