Full form of COVID-19

Full form of COVID-19 is Corona Virus Disease 2019.

COVID-19 is an acronym which was given by the WHO (World Health Organization) on 11th February, 2020. COVID-19 is mainly known as Corona Virus. COVID-19 is a dangerous virus, it started from Wuhan, China in the late 2019. Then it spreaded all over the world.

COVID-19 is a disease which is caused by a virus called SARS-Cov-2. In simple words, COVID-19 is a disease not a virus, it is actually caused by a virus which is SARS-Cov-2. People knows that what is the name of the disease but they do not know that what caused that disease, as in this case SARS-Cov-2 caused that disease.

COVID-19 earlier was known as Corona Virus or Corona Virus Disease of 2019 and even as novel corona virus. It was changed as COVID-19 on February 11, 2020 by WHO. This was an acronym and therefore the full form of COVID-19 is Corona Virus Disease 2019.

COVID-19 is also known as Novel Corona Virus as mentioned above. Here Novel means new, as this virus has not been discovered before so this is a new virus. Hence the name is Novel Corona Virus.

SARS-COV-2 is a second name chosen by WHO, before this it was decided to be SARS but could have unintended results or consequences therefore it was decided to name it as SARS-COV-2.

This Virus causes many cases in around all the countries. As this virus was spreading rapidly therefore was declared as an epidemic. There were many deaths due to this virus and this is still causing many deaths, and the cases of COVID-19 is increasing day by day.

Doctors are continuously fighting against this virus to save people. Scientists are working hard to find any vaccine to prevent it. However there is no vaccine now but we can hope to have in the near future.
